About

Hello! My name is Poppy, I’m 23 years old, I work as a Physiotherapist in Bristol, I have celiacs disease and a huge appetite.

I was born with celiacs disease, my parent’s figured this out after months of having a pot bellied, spotty baby with no energy – cute! My mum remembers feeding me weetabix and watching it come out my nose as my body rejected the gluten. They never took me for the celiac tests at that age and they refused to put me back onto a gluten diet just to get the formal diagnosis.

Being so young I understandably did not know what it meant to be ‘gluten free.’ I used to sneak into the kitchen when my parents weren’t around and eat digestive biscuits from the cupboard! It seems that this actually helped to increase my gluten tolerance and up until the age of 20 I used to eat fairly normally with only the occasional flare up.

While at university in my final year the reactions became more and more frequent and I was noticing a lot of very different symptoms. Whether this was from a uni budgeting diet, stress from revision and work, or a mix of both, I’m not sure. But, in July 2013 I returned to the GP took all the test’s and was given the diagnosis I’d know all along – Celiacs disease.

I have ALWAYS loved food and having celiacs only pushes me to explore it more. I wanted to share with you all my passion for eating gluten free, healthy, delicious food both at home and out and about.

So thanks for reading and exploring with me!

Forever, the awkward dinner guest
